Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program

A collaborative effort between Howard University and the U.S. State Department, the Charles B. Rangel Program International Affairs Program promotes greater diversity and excellence in the U.S. Foreign Service. The Rangel program consists of two components: an International Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program that provides support for graduate school, professional development, and entry into the U.S. Foreign Service and an undergraduate International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program that provides an opportunity for undergraduates to enhance their knowledge and understanding about U.S. foreign policy.

The Graduate Fellowship Program will provide up to $35,000 annually for tuition, room, board, books, and mandatory fees for completion of a two-years master's degree. At the end of those two years, the student should have completed a degree in international affairs or another area of relevance to the work of the Foreign Service at a graduate or professional school approved by the Rangel program.

The International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program provides undergraduate students with a six week summer program designed to give students a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs. The program selects 15-20 participants who will live at Howard University, attend classes, and participate in a variety of programs around D.C. This program covers the cost of tuition, housing, travel, and two meals per day. It also provides students with a $3,200 stipend.
