The Forum

The Forum serves as a Carroll Fellow's introduction to the Carroll Fellows Initiative.  A two-semester seminar course, the Forum empowers Carroll Fellows to better understand themselves, to critically consider all aspects of an issue, and to express their ideas in concise and compelling ways.  Thus, the Forum enhances many of the skills necessary to succeed not only in the CFI, but also in a Carroll Fellow's future academic and professional pursuits.

In the Forum, Carroll Fellows read and discuss a variety of texts (see sample below).  Carroll Fellows also complete a Forum Independent Research Project (FIRP), visit the Kluge Center at the Library of Congress, participate in a resume-writing workshop, and work with a senior mentor on a specific challenge.  Upon successful completion of the Forum, Carroll Fellows are eligible for full membership in the CFI.

The Forum meets on Fridays from 1 - 2:50 PM.  It counts for one credit per semester and is a pass/fail course.
