Truman Scholarship

The Undergraduate Office of Fellowships and Awards recently held an information session for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship. The scholarship is a post-graduate opportunity that awards 55-65 scholarships annually for the pursuit of graduate studies, leadership training, or fellowships for students who are committed to making a difference through public service.

At Georgetown the application process for the scholarship begins the summer after a student's sophomore year.  Applications are reviewed by the Truman Scholars Selections Committee and are due by August. Selected applicants will be invited to partake in interviews and the committee will ultimately nominate four
students for university endorsement. Endorsed students work closely with the Office of Fellowships and Awards on their external applications.

The Truman Scholarship requires a GPA in the top 25% of a student's graduating class, status as a full-time student with junior level academic standing, US citizenship, and university endorsement.

Important Dates:

August 2014: Applications for university endorsement due
Fall 2014: Endorsed  candidates work on application with GOFAR
February 2015: External applications due
March/April 2015: Finalist interviews
April 2015: Winners announced
