Tired of Lau? Visit the Library of Congress!

Tired of studying at Lau during midterm season? GOFAR recommends you venture outside of the Hilltop and head to the Library of Congress.  One of the world’s largest library, The Library of Congress has three locations, the Thomas Jefferson Building; the James Madison Memorial Building; and, the John Adams Building.

At all locations of the Library of Congress, you will not only find a variety of places to study but also have access to a multitude of resources. You can explore through the Library’s extensive database, you can request a meeting with a librarian or research expert, and you can also find notated music, maps, and legislation.

To gain access to the Library, you will need to register for a Reader Identification Card. The Reader Registration Station is located in the James Madison Memorial Building, Room LM 140.  Once you arrived, you must present a valid driver's license, state-issued identification card, or passport.  Also, you can pre-register online here and skip the hassle of an extra 10-15 minutes of in-person registration.

With its wealth of resources and impressive design, the Library of Congress is definitely one of the sites you should visit during your time on the Hilltop. You will not only enrich your academic experience but also new mediums for learning.

The Library is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Saturday. For more information, check out its website!
