Spring Break a Dud? Summer Doesn’t Have to Be!

Happy Spring Break, Hoyas!

Did your vacation plans fall through? Stuck going home rather than somewhere new and exciting? Then take some of your free time over spring break to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen to your summer! Here are two very exciting research opportunities....

GUROP Summer Fellowship

The GUROP Summer Fellowship accords students a funded, full-time experience pursuing a research topic of their choice.  The program is available only to undergraduate students at Georgetown University, and meant to be a closely mentored, intensive research experience.  Moreover, you are encouraged to work closely with a faculty mentor in developing the summer research proposal. You are responsible for forming a partnership with a professor (See our Feb. 18 blog for tips!), with GUROP providing you a stipend to conduct research over the summer and transcript notation.

Visit http://gurop.georgetown.edu/summer for more information.

Raines Fellowship

Are you more interested in independent research? Then the Raines Fellowship is for you! This program awards recipients $5,000 to delve into their own research project over the summer. This incredible prize can be applied to any field of research, in any location—be sure to work hard and develop a compelling proposal! This is something with which GOFAR is able to assist you; feel free to make an advising appointment before the deadline of March 19. Further information can be found here.

Through these unique research opportunities, you can have the opportunity to make summer even more exciting and interesting than Spring Break! Get to it!
