Opportunity with the Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship!

This year marks the launch of an exciting new Fulbright opportunity!!

For the first time ever, the U.S. Department of State and the National Geographic Society have formed a partnership to create the Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship. This unique opportunity allows scholars to spend up to an academic year travelling abroad in up to three countries to capture and convey the tale of an internationally noteworthy social or environmental issue. This project focuses on storytelling and human engagement aspects, taking full advantage of modern digital technology to do so. More information about the inaugural 2014 opportunity can be found here: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/fulbright-nat-geo-fellowship

Additionally, another dark-horse Fulbright opportunity is coming up! The Fulbright-mtvU Awards have been around a few years longer than the National Geographic opportunity, but are similar in approach. The mtvU Awards are allocated to applicants interested in projects surrounding international music culture, with special consideration to the social power of music. This program also allows recipients to spend a year abroad to fully pursue their project goals. More information about this year's process can be found here: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/fulbright-mtvu-awards

Applications to both of these Fulbright opportunities are due online by Friday, 2/28

How can GOFAR help you?

Neither of these particular Fulbright opportunities require university endorsement, so there is no formal advising process through which applicants must go. There are still ways we can aid you through the application process though!

Applicants can:
-Make an appointment to come into our Gervase office and look at past successful research and ETA Fulbright applications. Many of the same principles shown in these winning applications will apply to the mtvU and National Geographic grants.
-Make an appointment to discuss specific questions with a Fulbright adviser. We are more than happy to field any questions or concerns you might encounter.
-Have your application essays reviewed by a Fulbright adviser. Feedback is always beneficial! This is, however, only possible if we receive the essays by Tuesday, 2/18.

Good luck, and go get 'em Hoyas!
