CFI Community Spotlight: The Ignatian Practice of Recreation

"I never would have thought he would end up as a sauerkraut farmer." - Jason Petty

Monday night marked the beginning of a new tradition in Carroll Fellows. Around 8pm, a group of about ten Carroll Fellows, from sophomores to seniors, gathered in Midnight Mug to participate in the "Ignatian Practice of Recreation." A much-needed break from mandatory schoolwork, technology, and club meetings, this hour was spent in discussing interesting books, current events, and different facets of the Carroll Fellow program at large. Sophomore Carroll Fellow started the discussion with a synopsis of a book he had recently read, Sweetness #9. He would recommend this book to no one. Sophomore Sinéad discussed the complex art of Irish dancing, while juniors Michael and Mary discussed the future of the Recreational Hour. Mary and senior Laura brought homemade cookies. A good time was had by all. We hope to continue this tradition throughout the year, and we look forward to our next meeting on Monday, October 6th at 8pm in the Gervase conference room.
